Specialty “Museum and Archaeological Site Guard”. Educational study –to the Cathedral of Patras
On Tuesday, October 29, 2019, the students of the specialty “Guardian of Museums and Archaeological Sites” of the Public Vocational Training Institute of Patras paid an educational visit to the Cathedral of Patras. The educational visit to the Church of the Evangelistria was held in the context of active learning and experiential involvement with the subject of Art History.
The trainees were guided by the head of the Temple father Ambrosios Gourvellos, who demonstrated the Temple and the great works of Con. Fannell, Ep. Thomopoulos, Spyr. Hatzigiannopoulos, Takis Prionas, Dion. Kallivocki, G. Korozi, K. Livada-Liotsi, Nick. Doxara, Dim. Stelakato et al.,and gave to the students and their tutor, John Soules, the opportunity to see unique church relics. Among them: a large silver Russian Gospel (1892), the double cruciform work of Zakynthos , pictures of Our Lady of Greetings and Our Lady of Throne (13th Century), the Bakery and the polycandles of Agia Bankis et al.
